The Director of Oncology Services manages and is responsible for all medical oncology and radiation oncology departmental operations. The Director is responsible for establishing goals and policies for the departments of medical oncology and radiation oncology. The Director must work collaboratively with the Director of Radiology to meet department goals. The Director communicates effectively with patients, staff, supervisors, other departments and physicians. The Director coordinates clinical issues with physicians, administration and other staff.
The Director of Oncology reports directly to the Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer.
Develops, reviews and adheres to department policies and procedures and provide documentation of review on a regular basis.
Selects, trains, mentors and empowers competent and inspired staff of clinical and support staff.
Ensures that departmental billing and coding is compliant with all regulatory agencies and prices are commensurate with the market.
Ensures areas of responsibility are well organized, productive and operate efficiently and effectively.
Together with marketing/communications department, develops and implements marketing and public relations initiatives to attain departmental goals.
Develops and prepares, in conjunction with the senior leadership team, financial performance for and implements related new business opportunities consistent with the BRHC mission and strategic initiatives.
Drives high performance of all department employees relating to patient care outcomes and service excellence.
In cooperation with the department and medical staff, creates and navigates the strategic vision for the department and leads employees toward that vision.
Establishes and maintains open and cooperative relationships with physicians, other departments and businesses, external service providers, faculties of education programs and the community
Assures the department conforms to all legal and regulatory requirements and ensures staff meets yearly required education obligations.
a.) Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Allied Healthcare Discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
a.) 5-7 years of healthcare management. Extensive experience in service line leadership.
