The OR Instrument Aide must have the skill and knowledge to identify instruments as well as technique in proper sterilization and tray set up. He/She must have the skill and knowledge to provide population specific care.
The OR Instrument Aide reports directly to the Team Leader.
Organize and prioritize instrumentation by communicating and collaborating with others to provide a continuity of care.
Holds self-accountable and responsible for work performance in his/her work area.
Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards regarding sterilization of instruments.
Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for his/her specific unit.
Assist Sterile Processing Department in the collection of documentation of data for records needed from Sterilization of instruments in Surgery and related departments.
Successfully performs clerical duties when required to support the department, which may include scheduling surgical procedures.
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Successful completion of hospital orientation
