  • Overview

    The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is an Administrative position.

     

    The CEO shall be the direct representative of the Board of Trustees for Bothwell Regional Health Center (BRHC) for the management of the organization. The CEO will interpret and administer policies and act as a resource and liaison person in the formulation of these policies. The CEO is responsible for the management and supervision of all aspects of BRHC, planning and directing, public relations, budget and finance, human resources, general administrative services and coordination of medical staff activities into quality patient care. The CEO shall act as the “duly authorized representative” of the Board of Trustees in all matters unless another person has been designated for a specific purpose.

     

    The CEO reports directly to the Board of Trustees.

    Responsibilities

    1.       

    Provides direction and leadership to achieve BRHC’s mission to provide quality health care driven by strategies and key initiatives.

    2.       

    Leads and directs BRHC’s operations for high quality patient care in a safe, secure and cost effective manner. Implements policies supporting BRHC values and objectives.

    3.       

    Informs and advises the Board in current health care trends, activities, business/industry trends, and future issues to facilitate policymaking.

    4.       

    Provides environment to develop (with Board ,Medical Staff, and hospital leadership) strategic plans and key initiatives subject to approval by the Board of Trustees. Serves as a communicator and information resource between the Board, Medical Staff, Senior Leadership Team and any of its committees.

    5.       

    Leads and directs an annual operating and multi-year capital budget consistent with the strategic plan. Ensures on-going monitors to measure performance against standards/benchmarks. Takes action to correct unsatisfactory results in a timely manner.

    6.       

    Provides for sound human resources policy, procedures, and process, monitoring appropriate orientation to BRHC employees and their effectiveness.

    7.       

    Works closely with the Medical staff leadership, assuring a collaborative working relationship with individual physicians and the medical staff at large. Directs the development and negotiation of any physician contract for hospital-based and/or employed physicians.

    8.       

    Directs ongoing compliance with applicable local, state, and federal statutes and regulatory and/or accreditation standards. Assists in the preparation, reviews and acts upon reports of the varying authorized regulatory agencies.

    9.       

    Represents BRHC within the community and in state and national hospital associations and professional activities (American College of Healthcare Executives) that define and enhance the delivery of health-care services. Also, ensures leadership team members are engaged in the community we serve. Monitors the community’s perception of BRHC and employs effective marketing/communications/public relations strategies.

    10.   

    Provides leadership and direction to direct reports, including an organizational structure with defined lines of authority, accountability, and responsibility.

    Qualifications

    • Education

     

    Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration or a related discipline. Master’s degree highly desired.

     

    • Licensure/Certification

     

    Affiliation with the American College of Healthcare Executives highly desired.

     

    • Work Experience

     

    Ten years with increasing responsibilities in leadership of an organization. Experience in strategic planning, marketing, Board relations, operational/financial management and community relations. Experience in community-based health care in a rural environment preferred. Should have proven record of leadership and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
