Overview

The Clinical Education Specialist serves as the receptionist for Clinical Education. Stationed at the entrance of the building, this person directs patients and staff to scheduled locations. This position also works closely with Diabetes Education, maintaining records and scheduling patients, is a chairman of the DAISY award, coordinates and submits courses to HealthStream and assists with trouble shooting. This position also maintains all AHA (American Heart Association) courses and submits to the AHA.

 

The Clinical Education Specialist reports to the Clinical Education Coordinator and to the CNO.

Responsibilities

1. Responsibilities include welcoming and helping new hires, scheduling start dates and all required education for new hires, and gathering the necessary paperwork. Develops and maintains new employee orientation program. Emailing new hires with details about the company, including parking information, work schedules, and dress codes. Introducing new hires to their team members. Providing new hires with manuals, guidelines, and passwords, as needed. Detailing all new hires' initial tasks and answering any queries.

 

2. Serves as department receptionist, directing customers to the appropriate area. Maintains department equipment and sets up facility for classes.

 

3. Specialist is in charge of maintaining yearly clinical education calendar; assisting in building process, and entering courses into HealthStream. Emailing employees prior to classes, keeping track of attendance records/no call, no shows, emailing directors     about attendance and filing sign-in sheets for the classes throughout the year for references.

 

4. Maintains all AHA education records, class rosters, instructor certifications/evaluations, course manuals and invoices in a neat and easily accessible manner. Maintains HealthStream, assists with certification requirements, keeps schedules and placards       current/dispersed throughout the hospital, orders catering as requested, and maintains all supplies needed.

 

5. The Clinical Education Specialist is a chairman for the DAISY Award at BRHC.

 

6. Maintaining supplies and equipment for Clinic Education.

 

7. Schedules education days for all nursing departments, RN/LPN’s.

 

8. Other duties as assigned by Director of Clinical Education and CNO.
    Demonstrates cooperation in fulfillment of other duties as requested within the scope of the job description.

Qualifications

1. Education:
  a.) High school graduate. One to two years of college preferred.

 

2. Licensure/Certification:
  a.) CPR (BLS or Heartsaver)

 

3. Work Experience:
  a.) A minimum of one-year medical experience preferred.
  b.) Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and office equipment is required. Experience with Meditech programs, AHA, HealthStream is strongly preferred.
  c.) Experience as an Onboarding Specialist or in a similar HR role strongly preferred.
  d.) The ability to work with sensitive and confidential information. Excellent verbal and written communication skill, strong teamwork skills and good organizational and time management skills is required.
