Overview

The Clinic Receptionist performs duties directly involved with all aspects of the secretarial duties needed to maintain medical records. The clinic receptionist handles all incoming telephone calls, directing calls to the appropriate department or person and takes messages when needed. The clinic receptionist assists the patient in checking in for their appointment and for checking the patient out after the appointment and follow-up appointment scheduling as needed.

 

The Clinic Receptionist reports directly to the Clinic Registration Manager under the direction of: Director of Clinic Financials and VP of Clinic Operations.

Responsibilities

1. Greets Patients and directs them to the appropriate area.

 

2. Updates patient information, provides any necessary forms needing completion, obtains signature as necessary.

 

3. Handles telephone calls in an efficient, friendly manner, taking clear and understandable messages when needed. Deals with customer needs expeditiously.

 

4. Schedules appointments and revises schedules for patients as necessary. Assists in scheduling patients for follow-up appointments.

 

5. Daily preparation of patient chart for appointments, with all necessary paperwork attached.

 

6. Properly collect copays at each visit and outstanding account balances as necessary.

7. Open/close and balance clinic cash drawer appropriately at the beginning and end of day.

 

8. Monitors inventories supplies and places orders for supplies through clinic director or manager as needed.

 

9. Assists in cleaning emergency spills and clinic office as observed or requested to ensure cleanliness of the waiting room, doors and counters.

 

10. Required to float to other Bothwell clinics as necessary or needed.

 

11. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Education:
  a.) High School graduate or equivalent or preferred.

 

2. Licensure/Certification:
  a.) None required.

 

3. Work Experience:
  a.) Experience in medical office work and capable of using office equipment preferred.
