The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound imaging studies as directed by a physician’s order. The technologist must be capable of performing patient care for age groups 0 to 105 years old.
The Ultrasound Technologist reports directly to Ultrasound Chief Technologist
1. Responsible for applying proper techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality ultrasound images.
2. Responsible for on call procedures.
3. Responsible for assisting physicians with procedures.
4. Ensures operation of ultrasound equipment by following manufacturer’s instructions and calling for repairs when needed.
5. Assists with maintaining necessary supplies in the department.
6. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with all policies, rules, and regulations.
7. Other duties as assigned.
1. Education:
a.) High School graduate or equivalent.
b.) Graduate of accredited Ultrasound program.
c.) Must be registered in Diagnostic Ultrasound either by ARDMS or ARRT.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a.) Certification in Ultrasound Technology by the ARDMS or ARRT is required.
3. Work Experience:
a.) Prefer a minimum of 2 years of experience as a staff technologist, and possesses capabilities as determined to be adequate by the department head.
