Overview

The Time Critical Diagnosis (TCD) Clinical Abstractor is responsible for the systematic extraction, analysis, and documentation of clinical data related to time-sensitive diagnoses. This role plays a crucial part in improving patient outcomes through accurate data collection and reporting, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

 

The Time Critical Diagnosis (TCD) Clinical Abstractor reports directly to Director of Quality Management.    

Responsibilities

1. Data Extraction: Review and abstract clinical data from medical records related to time critical diagnoses, such as stroke, myocardial infarction, and trauma.

 

2. Quality Assurance: Conduct quality checks to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of abstracted data.

 

3. Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of abstraction processes and outcomes, ensuring compliance with confidentiality and regulatory standards.

 

4. Collaboration: Work collaboratively with clinical teams, including physicians and nurses, to clarify data requirements and resolve discrepancies.

 

5. Reporting: Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and trends related to time critical diagnoses for stakeholders and regulatory bodies.

 

6. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on relevant guidelines and regulations to ensure all data abstraction activities adhere to institutional and governmental policies.

 

7. Training and Mentorship: Provide training and support to new team members in data abstraction methodologies and best practices.

 

8. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance data quality and abstraction efficiency.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Experience:
a.) Previous experience in clinical data abstraction, clinical research, or a related
field is preferred.

 

2. Education:
a.) High School Graduate required,
b.) Medical terminology preferred

 

3. Skills:
a.) Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
b.) Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
c.) Proficiency in electronic health record systems and data management
software.
d.) Familiarity with time critical diagnosis protocols and terminology is a plus.
e.) Management, and report writers.
f.) Knowledge of reporting registries and related regulations. Ability to work
independently on assigned projects and to recommend improvement to the
process of collecting, maintaining, and reporting patient information.
g.) Ability to establish productive relationships with a wide variety of health care
professionals.
h.) Experience with performance audits.
