Overview

The Patient Access Specialist is responsible for working return mail daily, billing, entering various data in the system, and in the absence of the Manage Care Specialist, completes their duties.

 

The Patient Access Specialist reports directly to the Director of Patient Services

Responsibilities

1. Registers all patients with verification of patient and insurance information Verify
    information through the Precertification Department to secure authorization or precertification for testing.

 

2. Scans and Files physician orders that are faxed or brought to the admitting area.

 

3. Relieves cashier and PBX operator as needed.

 

4. Working daily selection reports to check for accuracy on past accounts.

 

5. All other assigned duties which may include providing information to patients, &
    answering and responding to telephone calls in the area.

 

6. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Education:
  a) High School graduate with related subjects in general business.
  b) Computer knowledge
  c) Medical terminology.
  d) Good customer service skills.

 

2. Licensure/Certification:
  a.) N/A

 

3. Work Experience:
  a) General office experience preferably with insurance claims knowledge.
  b) Ability to operate various office machines.
  c) Be able to work independently and make reasonable decisions while maintaining confidentiality.
