The Tumor Registrar identifies, registers and maintains a database of patients with Cancer and other reportable diagnoses. Responsible for coordination of monthly Cancer Committee, Conferences, and other Cancer registry operation activities
The Tumor Registrar reports directly to the Director of Oncology Services.
1. Compiles registry data and distributes information per Missouri Cancer Registry operating guidelines.
2. Prepares and coordinates all cancer registry operation activities under the direction of the Cancer Committee.
3. Perform other duties as assigned.
1. Education:
a.) Associates degree or higher in Health Information Management.
2. Licensure/Certification:
a.) Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR).
b.) A person with the Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT) or
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) credential will
considered for the position with the understanding that a timeline will be
established where the person will be required to obtain the CTR credential.
3. Work Experience:
a.) Medical records coding experience and/or medical records management
experience.
