Overview

The Perioperative Services Aide is responsible for stocking the anesthesia supplies in each room. They would assist patients off and on carts, OR/SDS/PACU tables, or transfer to wheelchairs. The Perioperative Services Aide assists the OR team with cleaning OR/SDS/PACU rooms and equipment between patients, to help with turnover. They are also responsible for transporting equipment and supplies to the surgical services departments.

 

The Perioperative Services Aide reports directly to the charge nurse or team leader

Responsibilities

1. Ensures self-compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care.

 

2. Demonstrates the knowledge of needs and task for his/her specific unit.

 

3. Transports patients safely to designated areas in a punctual and timely manner.

 

4. Assists and positions patients in and out of beds, carts, and wheelchairs.

 

5. Transports medical equipment, supplies and laboratory specimens to designated treatment, diagnostic and patient care areas.

 

6. Clean rooms and equipment as requested.

 

7. Monitors and maintains surgical and anesthesia supplies and orders replacements as
   needed.

 

8. Provides support as required for OR desk scheduling operations ie: answering
    telephones, scheduling surgeries, communicating with clinics and other department
    clerical functions.

 

9. Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

1. Education:
  a.) High School graduate.

 

2. Licensure/Certification:
  a.) Not required for non-certified.
  b.) CNA for certified.

 

3. Work Experience:
  a.) Successful completion of hospital orientation.
  b.) Experience using computers and computer software programs.
