Overview

The Wound Care LPN (Licensed Practical / Vocational Nurse)/RN  is responsible for all assigned nursing care activities to include but not limited to wound care for patients of all ages and other clinical activities associated with providing safe patient care. The LPN will be responsible for assisting with patient and wound care data collection for outcome based care management.

 

The LPN/RN must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients served on his/her assigned unit as described in unit based competencies, policies, and procedures.

 

In collaboration with other staff members, the LPN/RN provides bedside patient care, implementing the interventions identified in the plan of care, as directed by the RN.

 

The Clinic LPN/RN reports directly to the Director of Clinic Operations.

Responsibilities

1. Ensure appropriate patient care documentation.

 

2. Implement and assure compliance with wound center and hospital policies and procedures.

 

3. Maintain familiarity with regulatory standards.

 

4. Report quality of care issues to staff RN or Program Director.

 

5. Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies.

 

6. Communicates with all team members regarding therapeutic interventions.

 

7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

LPN

 

1. Education:
a.) Graduate of an accredited Practical School of Nursing.

2. Licensure/Certification:
a.) Current licensure by Missouri State Board of Nursing.
b.) BLS certification required within 6 months of employment.

 

3. Work Experience:
a.) Successful completion of orientation for LPN.

 

RN

1. Education:
  a.) RN graduate of Accredited School of Nursing.

 

2. Licensure/Certification:
  a) Must have valid, current license by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  b) Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification/Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
     (CPR) required.

 

3. Work Experience:
  a.) Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two
       years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education
        and experience.
