Overview

The Medical Oncology Secretary understands the entire Medical Oncology process, both clinically and administratively, to effectively and efficiently communicate information and generate reports.

 

The Medical Oncology Secretary reports directly to the Director of Oncology Services.

Responsibilities

1. Responsible for transcription. Responsible to taking and typing minutes of monthly QA meetings, as well as preparing agenda. Responsible for patient charges.

 

2. Responsible for scheduling new consults and follow up patients in accordance with all others involved. Responsible for answering the phones.

 

3. Maintains department statistics needed for reports. Responsible for maintaining QA and CQI records.

 

4. Maintains professional communication between other personnel, physicians, patients and their families.

 

5. Responsible for following hospital safety policies and procedures. Responsible for assisting in the transportation of patients.

 

6. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Education:
  a.) High School diploma or equivalent.
  b.) Graduate of medical terminology course.

2. Licensure/Certification:
  a.) None required

 

3. Work Experience:
  a.) None required.
